And so it starts. The battle for this year’s MWC spotlight, that is. We’re pretty certain Samsung and HTC have bigger different fish to fry, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of treats in Barcelona from all the other big names in the industry.

No siree, it doesn’t! LG is one name that will definitely take the Spanish stage to intro something new with an “unexpected distinction”, while Asus is “in search of incredible”.

Those are the words inscribed on press invites that are reportedly being sent out as we speak (we’re still waiting for ours, Asus), and, just like with LG, it’s hard to decipher what’s in store come February 25. Hard, but not impossible, as we have a very obvious hint under our noses – an 8 or infinity symbol.

Unfortunately, that can be a reference to one or more of several types of devices – Windows 8 tablets, WP8 handhelds or a follow-up to last year’s Asus Transformer Pad Infinity. Our money is on the last scenario and not just because we don’t care very much about Windows, but also because the first-gen Infinity tab was unveiled at MWC 2012.

But what about the Fonepad? Well, there’s no clue to confirm the 7-incher’s presence at this month’s Barcelona event, but there’s nothing to dispute it either, so let’s stay positive. Do you want to see the Fonepad at MWC? How about an Infinity 2?

as long as it doesn’t use the same eMMC as their previous devices (prime/infinity), it MIGHT be something incredible indeed!
