Asus FonePad UK

The Asus Fonepad UK pre-order process is set to start very soon, on April 12, and the price will be the one already known, £179, according to TechRadar, that talked to a company representative.

The same source says that the Intel-powered tablet with phone capabilities will be available at Carphone Warehouse, Amazon.co.uk and Sainsbury’s. The mentioned release date is April 26, and pre-orders are set to begin on April 12. So far, only CarPhone Warehouse has it listed on its website, but you can only sign up to be notified when the ordering process starts.

The publication also mentions that Asus promises a quick Android 4.2 update (the Asus Fonepad comes with 4.1 preinstalled), and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t believe that, judging by Asus’ pretty good update track record (including the recent PadFone updates).

If you don’t think you can wait until the Asus Fonepad pre-orders start in the UK, you can always get it on eBay, straight from Taiwan. One eBay seller offers the device for £252 (shipping is free), and if you want a warranty that sets you back another £31.99.

Anyway, before you decide on waiting for the Fonepad or getting it right away, you can check out our first look at the device:

UK readers, are you planning on pre-ordering the Asus Fonepad?
