AOKP ROM for AT&T Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 [Ice Cream Sandwich]

    Ever since the AOKP ROM was release it became an instant hit and all developers are starting to port it in their devices because of its features like having faster performance, including the ROM Control Mod which you can use to customize your phone easily. This ROM is still in beta stage so expect to see some bugs to go along with it, but its perfect for daily phone usage.

    If you want to update your phone, just follow the simple steps below.

    Note:

    • Make sure that your device battery is charge at least 60%
    • Backup your device data into your computer.
    • Turn on USB Debugging, on your homescreen tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.

    Requirements:

    • Samsunng Galaxy S2 SGH-i777
    • USB Data Cable
    • Computer
    1. First, download the OAKP_1MAR2012_i777r1.zip file on your computer.
    2. Then, connect your device to the computer using your USB Data Cable.
    3. Next, copy the zip file you downloaded earlier to the root directory of your SD card.
    4. Disconnect your device to the computer.
    5. turn off your device.
    6. Go to Clockworkmod recovery.
    7. Once you’re in the recovery, do a nandroid backup by selecting backup> backup and restore> then backup to start saving your old ROM. (This will make a full backup of your existing ROM, and save it to the SD card. You can restore from this backup, if something gets messed up with the installation.)
    8. Now do a full wipe by selecting Mount and Storage then wipe the following:
      • Format System
      • Format Data
      • Format Cache
      • Go back to main menu and select advance then wipe dalvik-cache.
    9. From the main menu select install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card> then select the OAKP_1MAR2012_i777r1.zip to start flashing the AOKP ROM (ICS).
    10. Go back to main menu and select Reboot System now.
    You have successfully updated your phone to AOKP ROM, to install the Google apps, just follow the simple steps below.
    1. Download the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip on your computer.
    2. Then, connect your phone to the computer using your USB Data Cable
    3. Next, copy the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip to the root directory of your SD card.
    4. Disconnect your phone to the computer.
    5. Turn off your phone.
    6. Go to recovery mode.
    7. From the recovery main menu select install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card> then select the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip to start flashing the Google Apps.
    8. Go back to main menu and select Reboot System now.

    Once you have successfully installed the Google apps, download the SuInstall.zip then repeat steps 2-8, take note that when you reach step 7, this time use SuInstall.zip instead of google apps zip file. After the ROM boots, download Superuser app from the Android Market to be able to use root functions.

    Congratulations, you can now enjoy exploring your phone running on AOKP ROM (ICS).

      One thing-
      Put GApps and SU.zip onto your phone BEFORE installing the ROM, once it’s installed USB mounting doesn’t work. (I believe)

      I went to try and download it and it said 404 not found, you might need to update your link. Thanks for being awesome and trying to do this though. :)
