We’ve been bombarded lately with rumors about Sony’s exciting 2013 smartphone line-up, all culminating with a couple of simply outlandish reports, but today we’re going to take it down a notch.

Or maybe not, because after all not everyone can afford the latest high-end devices. That’s where the C5303 “HuaShan” enters the picture, being most likely the mid-range “brother” of the flagship Odin and Yuga.

What makes us say that? Well, for starters, there’s the model number spotted in the EXIF data of a photo uploaded to Picasa. You might remember we’ve seen the Yuga carrying a C6603 number and the Odin a C6503, so this “HuaShan” is definitely a couple of levels lower on the Sony Xperia evolutionary chain.

Another tidbit that guarantees this newly revealed phone will not be a “beast” is the rear-facing camera’s 5 MP sensor. That particular detail is far from confirmed, but if it turns out to be true, we’re definitely facing a budget-friendly device.

Now, what else do we know about the “HuaShan”? Virtually nothing, though it seems the phone will carry other model numbers, like C5302 or C5306, meaning it’ll most likely come out in Asia first and then spread around to Europe and maybe even the US. We can also speculate this’ll be on display at the CES or MWC early next year alongside the Odin and Yuga, but we should probably just wait and see.
