Having been released in the UK, in the US, and in other parts of the world – Samsung Canada finally announced the availability of the Galaxy 2 Tab for the Canadian market. It’s not too far off from our last report, which stated that the two variants of the Galaxy Tab 2 would hit stores on July 6. Priced rather affordably by Samsung, the 7-inch and 10.1-inch model will come with 8GB and 16GB internal storage — respectively. These are all the WiFi versions of the Tab 2. For the uninitiated, here are the specs of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0…

And we hope you’re sitting down, because there are more juicy details on the Galaxy…

Camera launcher app for Google Nexus 7 released on Play Store

by 2 years ago

For a $199.99 tablet, Google and Asus have packed the Nexus 7 with a chock-full of features that you wouldn’t normally expect to see at such price point, especially on a device that’s released by major brands. One of the things that is lacking on the tablet, which shouldn’t be missed too much by many, is a camera on the back, though the Nexus 7 does come with a front camera for video chatting. The lucky few who got their hands on a Nexus 7 before its official outing, however, found out that the tablet doesn’t come with a camera…

Could Google’s Nexus 7 Tablet start shipping next week?

by 2 years ago

Although Google put the Nexus 7 Tablet up for pre-order both in the US and the UK just hours after officially unveiling it, few of us actually hoped to get the tab before the end of the month. However, it now seems likely that we’ll see the 7-incher start shipping next week, based on a couple of hints picked up by the guys at Phandroid. First off, you can see on Staples’ official website a very intriguing announcement saying that the tablet “will ship between July 12th and July 17th” and that “expected delivery is 1-3 business days, arriving no earlier…

Hugo Barra talks about Jelly Bean and Nexus 7 in interview

by 2 years ago

Android Director of Product Management Hugo Barra appeared for the first time on stage at the Honeycomb event last year. Back then, I remember thinking he didn’t do a very good job presenting Honeycomb, but I think it was also the whole environment that didn’t make sense and put him in a bad light. It looked a lot less professional than any Google I/O event, and it seemed like they just quickly rented a room to show Honeycomb, which wouldn’t be the only rushed thing they did in relation to Android 4.0. However, at this year’s Google I/O event I thought…

All Verizon tablets will be sold without contract

Smartphone and tablet technology, in general, is evolving at a rapid pace. With every high-end device, high-resolution displays have become the norm. Single-core devices don’t make the cut and with the introduction of quad-core powerhouses, even dual-core processors are considered “old.” If you live in the US, you’re probably stuck with your “old” device for the next 2 years. We’ve already seen how the Brazilian government is forcing carriers to sell smartphones at full price without contract, and we’re slowly seeing the trend of Americans leaning towards prepaid connections to avoid the postpaid contract hassle. While the subsidized rates are a huge help ($200…

Google Now hack available for rooted devices running AOSP-based ROMs

by 2 years ago

There are a lot of new features introduced with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS but none have been more talked about than the somewhat controversial Google Now feature. While the continuous location tracking and other personal information requirements have the “tin-foil hat” people running for the hills, no one can deny that Google’s “more than just another” virtual assistant can be incredibly helpful, as long as privacy isn’t your biggest concern, of course. Google Now also comes along with the much improved Voice Search, which you can check out in action here. You can also check out our guide on…

Google Nexus 7 – not so awesome across the seas due to lack of digital content?

by 2 years ago

Update- We have just launched the best Android tablets of 2013 series. The Google Nexus 7 is one of the best Android tablets of the year and definitely a tough adversary for this year’s Kindle Fire versions. At the same time, the device is not an iPad-killer, it’s not even intended to be one, and, moreover, it may do a lot more harm within the Android tablet ecosystems, as other OEMs will not be able to replicate Google’s current tablet strategy. The Nexus 7 is an affordable device that packs quite a punch under the hood and is able to…
