Google is not stopping now–it has just made its movie service available in the U.K. Android Market. Users from this region can now access the awesome service off of their Android devices running at least Android 2.2 Froyo. Customers can now rent movies, good for 30 days, and watch them live on their Android devices or download and watch the flicks offline.

Now that this service is already available in the U.K., movie fanatics can now access around 1,000 titles that are ready for streaming and downloading. The rental cost ranges from £2.49 to £3.49 per movie. The movies rented can be watched on any device an account is logged on to.  They can even be viewed on a PC.

To be able to take advantage of this cool feature, the Video App has to be installed on your Android device. When this is done, you can already pick any movie you want and order it, just like getting an app from the Android Market. You can choose from an array of categories like action and adventure, animation and cartoons, comedy, drama, documentary, family, and horror. Some of the top movies already available for rent right now are Fast Five, Blitz, and Green Lantern.

It’s not a big surprise that Google starts venturing into the media business. Google has the resources and the necessary platform. The competition in this arena will be a bit tough, though. Its biggest contender would still be iTunes, a tough one to beat. Maybe Google will not be competing with Netflix and Hulu in the U.K. for now, since they’re only available in the U.S.–but who knows?

If you’re from the U.K., check out what movies you’d like to rent today from the movies section of the Android Market.
