Google Android Gingerbread

Google Android Gingerbread

We’re not 100% certain, but the word on the wire is that Gingerbread might come out of the oven today, and if so, we’ll be here for the tasting. If the rumors are correct, we may very well see the next iteration of Google’s Android OS today, offering a whole bunch of new features including HTML5 support, Near Field Communication (NFC) and possibly even an open source video codec that encroaches on Flash’s space.

Why so positive? Well, good old Mr. Rubin is set to take stage at the D: Dive into Mobile conference today. This event is well known and was founded by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher of All Things D(igital). However, the real pointer comes from Notion Ink, who can be quoted as saying “6th December is another big day for Android and you will find out how fast Notion Ink can work. (Eden is extremely compatible with 2.3)”
