Google have announced the winners of the Android Developer Challenge 2 (ADC2). The panel of judges comprise predominantly of Google employees, but votes from thousands of Android users were also considered. The panel itself also had representatives from MTV, Twitter, T-Mobile, among others. Winners were selected after two rounds of scoring, whereby the second round included the top 20 applications in each category. The categories consisted of Education/Reference, Games: Casual/Puzzle, Games: Arcade/Action, Social Networking, Lifestyle, Productivity/Tools, Media, Entertainment, Travel and Misc.
In typical Google fashion, hard work is rewarded. Each category winner received $100,000, and 2nd and 3rd place received $50,000 and $25,000 respectively. The overall winners of the entire competition received an additional $150,000, $50,000 and $25,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
