I’m looking for a physical game controller for my Galaxy S4. Any recommendations? – Ron
This is a complicated question. The easiest ways to get a controller to connect to any Android device is with root using the Sixaxis app. Without root there isn’t really a reliable way. One way is to take a PlayStation 3 controller and connect it using a cable. Some people have reported that this will help it pair via Bluetooth without root. I’ve provided a link in the written companion with more details on that.
Will the Sony Xperia Z come to any more carriers than just T-Mobile? – Gabriel Jimenez
The bad news is that Sony has a horrible habit of not selling devices in the US very often. You can count the number of flagship Sony devices released in the US on one hand and they’ve almost always been for just one carrier. So I don’t foresee the Xperia Z ending up anywhere other than T-Mobile and there are no current rumors to support otherwise.
Can I buy Nexus devices with Google Play Store credit? And how to? – Philip
Unfortunately the answer to this question is no. According to the Google Play terms of service, gift cards cannot be used to purchase app subscriptions, like the Google Play Music All Access Pass, or devices and other hardware. I know you said Play Store credit, but according to every source I could find, Play Store credit is essentially just a gift card and thus likely adheres to the same rules.
One of the most popular iOS exclusive apps is the multi-player game Clash of Clans. Do you ever think this game will make it to the Play Store and if so, how soon? – Luke Galloway
There has actually been a lot of news about the Android release of Clash of Clans lately. According to sources, the app is in beta for Android right now, with a public release happening in the near future. I can’t speculate on an exact release date, but I imagine they’ll want it out as soon as possible, so I’d be willing to bet we’ll see a public release of the game to some capacity within the next month and a half or so.
Hey Android Authority, I was thinking about buying a new smartphone but I’m really confused because there might be better smartphones coming out soon. What would you guys advise me to do? – Zayed
Unfortunately, that’s the conundrum of being a giant Android nerd these days. There are always better devices that are right around the corner all year long. If you were to wait because the next big phone is coming out, you’d never upgrade your phone again because the next big thing is always about to come out. My advice is to just pick a phone you like, buy it, and enjoy it. You’ll get an upgrade soon enough to pick up the next big thing again someday.
Don’t forget that this is fueled by your questions. If you don’t ask, we can’t answer! head over to the Android Authority Q&A page and ask us anything. We’ll try to get it answered. Tune in next week for the next episode!
