Andy Rubin is by no means a heavy Twitter user, so when you see a tweet from him in your timeline you should probably read it. Early this morning Rubin took to Twitter to announce that Android have 3.7 million activations on December 24th and 25th, now that is about 3.5 times the normal daily activations number on the Android platform.

The fact that Android had a pretty good Christmas is also echoed by a report from Flurry Analytics who also reports that 242 million apps were downloaded on Christmas Day for both the iOS and Android platforms. Flurry also stated that combined activations between Android and iOS reached 6.8 million, so if Android had 3.7 million of those, then looks like Android won Christmas.

As you can see from the above chart, the app downloads per hour drastically increased on Christmas day, at every hour of the day. Can Android beat this record for next Christmas? Let's hope so.

Out of the 3.7 million devices activated, how many do you think were Galaxy Nexus devices, or HTC Rezound's, or a Samsung Galaxy S2? If Flurry was able to provide that to us, I think it'd be pretty interesting don't you?

Did you receive an Android device for Christmas? Let us know which one and how you are liking it so far.

I upgraded to 4.2.1 and now the phone won’t connect to any Bluetooth device. Also, it refused to update apps on Play…had to remove account. Damn this sucks.

I tried to manually install 4.2.2 but install process aborts.
