Android 4.4 KitKat update confirmed for Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini

Moto X

Following the Android 4.4 KitKat announcement, Motorola has already updated its software upgrade news portal with details about eligible upgrades for certain Motorola handsets.

So far, the Moto X and the most recent Droids (Ultra, Maxx and Mini) have been confirmed to receive KitKat at some point in the future, although an actual launch date has not been specified for either model.

Motorola did say on Google+ that it’s excited about this Halloween and that it will have “more to share soon” about it.

Comparatively, HTC has already announced that its U.S. HTC One models will be upgraded to KitKat in 90 days or so, with the Google Play edition of the phone expected to get it in the coming weeks.

Since Motorola is now a Google company, and since KitKat is supposed to run on older hardware as well, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Moto announce Android 4.4 update plans for other handsets in the future.

We’ll be back with more KitKat update news for the Moto X and the 2013 Droid models as soon as we have them!

Not To be Rude or anything but Will GS3 Get 4.4 Kitkat?? sorry for putting Samsung into the subject… I just wanted to know

GS4 will most probably get the 4.4 update…
GS3 is questionable… am leaning towards it probably won’t knowing samsung…

GS3 should get it eventually. it still has more than enough specs to handle KitKat.

It’s not about specs, it’s about if they want to support such “old” device which I doubt

There was a leaked document from samsung earlier this year that the s3 was gonna get key lime pie which is now kitkat and that it will be the last update the s3 will get.

          • MasterMuffin

I remember that now. Good news!

Samsung has been good at keeping it’s older devices updated so I would expect it to get some kitkat next year.

So much for supporting older devices lol, the only devices they are supporting are the ones released within the last 5 months? What about last years RAZR HD line up?

    • nsanebird

It says on the moto site the RAZR m HD and HD Max will get 4.4

      • Marsg

When I posted the comment only the newer ones were listed but that’s great to hear.

What about the Motorola Atrix HD? It only got Android 4.1 last year. It’s hardware is more than enough for compatibility with Android 4.3 and 4.4. I will never buy a Motorola smartphone ever again. I only got one software update in 16 months. What the fuck is the new CEO doing?!!!!?!!!

    • Charlotte

Will not be anymore updates for our Atrix HD because Motorola replaced them with the Moto X …. that’s what I was told when I ask at the At&T store…they think everybody has money to buy new phones every year…

      • Mamoon Noorestani

Motorola announced that the Motorola Atrix HD will be getting the Android OS 4.4 software update soon, even though we didn’t get Android 4.2 and Android 4.3.
If that was true, I would never buy a phone from Motorola again because I don’t like spending my money on buying a phone every single year. I buy phones every 2 or 3 years. I would have to buy Samsung/LG smartphones from now on.

I was expecting to get at least 3 major software updates and only got 1 in 16 months!!!!!!

Would the RAZRi be getting kit Kat?
