A fresh new Android 4.4 KitKat build is available for the all Nexus 7 models, the recently released KRT16S firmware version.

A few days ago, Google rolled out KitKat version KRT16S to address several bugs including an encryption bug that could have affected devices in the future – apparently devices would have remained undecryptable in the unfortunate even the users entered the wrong password after an update.

However, Google only released over the air (OTA) updates for the Wi-Fi versions of the Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 7 (2013), and for the Nexus 7.

That means Nexus 7 users that have a 3G 2012 model or an LTE 2013 model may still be waiting for the KRT16S update.

Below, you’ll find download links compiled by Droid-Life for all Nexus 7 devices, no matter what year, and suited to the software version you’re running on your Nexus 7:

Finally, you may want to check out our how-to post on installing KitKat manually on your device.

I got the OTA a few hours ago, makes the Nexus 7 2012 seem snappier.

Is it time to put to rest the myth that Nexus devices are the first to receive updates? I have 2 N4s and 1 N7 and have yet to receive any update. This along with all the other privacy issues surrounding the company has really soured me on Google. I’m sorry for recommending their products and services to so many.

Just got the OTA update on my Nexus 10. Unfortunately it is an anti-climax. Not much seems to have changed.

I have a Nexus 7 (2013) and have not seen the update yet. Are they pushing this out to all devices? Any idea of the schedule? Keep checking for system updates and get the response that I’m up to date.

I’ve got the 4.4 update on my Nexus 7 3G. Everything it looks OK but the missing command of developer option to activate AOT. I was expecting for this option because I am thinking this is the future development of Android. But it’s missing on 4.4 update of Nexus 7 3G. STRANGE!

Kit kat has major bugs on my 2013 Nexus 7 LTE. It keeps reloading Web pages and the gallery doesn’t work properly. I wish I hadn’t installed it. My tablet is practically useless now.
