We recently saw some images of a Brazilian Nexus 4 supposedly running the newest version of Android, 4.2.2. It’s always a little difficult to judge the authenticity of claims like this, what with the temptation to Photoshop a forgery for a few laughs. But it turns out that this story is quite likely to be true, as we now have video evidence as well, this time from the Czech Republic.
The released video appears to be comparing some of the physical features between the Nexus 4 and the LG Optimus G, but as I don’t speak Czech I’m not entirely sure what’s being discussed. There’s only a brief view of the system page towards the end of the video, but we can clearly see the new Android version number.
Unfortunately we don’t get to see exactly what improvements will be heading way with Android 4.2.2, so there’s no indication if there are any major new features included as of yet. My speculation is that we’ll most likely be seeing some bug fixes and performance improvements, and maybe a few small integrated features like we did with the 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update, but nothing immediately obvious like new camera features or the inclusion of Google Now.
If you want to confirm the existence of Android 4.2.2 with your own eyes, then you can check out 6:30 in the video below. And if anyone speaks Czech, let me know if there’s any juicy hidden information in there.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that it is possible to fake the system version?
Yes, but you can’t fake the baseband version. And the baseband version in this video is different than what is one Android 4.2.1
Yes you can fake that too.
The shot is not fake, this is coming from Francisco Franco, one of the most reputable Android kernel developers. This is what he has to say. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36633893&highlight=44#post36633893
You can fake all but I look at the app drawer in the video and there’s no superuser or superSu app, so am guessing that the phone is even not rooted yet, but anyway this is not news worthy because we all know they’re fixing 4.2.1
deleted it before doing the vid because he’s smart?
i was wondering that also, but i think everyone wants it to be real. i would think google would try to fix the currents sync lag.
Build.prop, I have 6.6.6 in my sgs3 :D
Hey, I understand Czech (I am Slovak and the languages are really similar).
The video doesn’t discuss anything specific, it’s just a basic review. (The phone is not yet available in countries that can’t buy devices in the Play Store, so it is actually a review of a “new” phone for our market – on the other hand, everybody already knows it well from foreign websites and reviews).
To sum it up, the people that shot the video didn’t even notice that having Android 4.2.2 is something extraordinary, they just mentioned that “it is running the latest version of Android 4.2.2″, without even realizing that this version was not released yet :)
In the beginning of the video, they said that the unit they are reviewing is a testing unit from the Czech LG office, so that would explain the unreleased version of Android. (They also said that this unit did not have Gorilla Glass and that there were already some scratches visible, but that the standard production units will have it of course).

I got everything…
Very funny, indeed… (sarcasm, of course)
For me, Portuguese can sound like that – and I don’t make fun of that.
he’s not insulting anything/anyone, he’s just joking how “he got it” though the language is “weird” and sounds weird to those who don’t speak it. Get some sense of humor, please :)
I am not offended, not at all, and I also understand his point of view, but still, it kinda shows a little bit of disrespect towards the speakers of the language, like “for me it’s just bnqwjkgheraghn”.
I don’t speak Portuguese, but I don’t boast everywhere that it sounds jibberish for me…
I joke like that every time I hear a language that I don’t understand and they usually laugh with me and start speaking English with me, so I don’t think and I haven’t ever seen anyone that thinks it’s disrespectful. And I don’t mind when people do that to me (I’m Finnish, we are weird. Tälläseltä me kuulostetaan, paljon ääkkösiä ja tällee :D)
Actually, this Finnish guy sounds pretty awesome :)
:DDDD Lol that’s the “hero” of every ice hockey fan, his name is Mertaranta :D I just laughed a lot! why did you watch that vid? :)
‘Cause I’m Slovak ;) The videos of him commenting became quite popular here in Slovakia (among the internet community, but were shown on TV as well) after we won in the quarterfinals and semifinals, everybody was thrilled about the passion he puts into it :)
Yep, he really puts his heart into it :D
no problem with the translation ;)
he says they are in LG and he’s holding a prototype in his hand /so for example there is no gorilla glass on front and back side of the phone, that’s why you can see those tiny scratches/.. then telling the specification and availability in Czech Republic /till 5:50/..
then he is showing the system, latest version of Android – Jelly Bean but he doesn’t say anything else, no mention about the version 4.2.2.. possibly he didn’t even know he has so newest version :)
this was more just a preview..
Nothing special just review in czech for czech. In czech’ll be this device for sale until february… :-(
I can speak Czech (i was born there :D). It’s only preview video of N4. They took it in LG Czech republik on a prototype (it doesn’t have a gorilla glass, you can see scratches on a back). There is nothing of A 4.2.2 because guys from smartmania hadn’t registred that it’s new version (they told it to me :)). But it’s likely, that’s not fake :)
Hey and there was a one more preview video, i think one week ago. That was on other Czech website and they was testing the same devise (scratches was same, name of owner was same and it was also in Czech LG. It was running A 4.2.1. Here is the link on video. http://mobilenet.cz/katalog/google-nexus-4/videa?media=103087
