HTC has confirmed that it will be updating at least three of its Android smartphones, the Wildfire, Legend, and Desire, with Android 2.2 Froyo in Q3 of this year.  Android 2.2 will offer greatly increased speed for applications and web browsing due to a brand new “virtual machine” for apps and Javascript engine for the web browser. Apps will run 2 to 5 times faster than with Android 2.1, and the web browser’s Javascript support will be 2 to 3 times faster as well. Adobe Flash 10.1 (and Air) support will be included in the update.

I am amongst the many, many people eagerly awaiting the Froyo 2.2 update that seems to be taking forever, if it is coming at all. I have started a campaign to lobby HTC concerning this matter. I believe that Wildfire owners deserve an answer, is the Wildfire getting this update or isn’t it. If you would like to join my campaign and vote on the poll that will be presented to HTC Headquarters please visit my blog: http://wp.me/p1aWfq-39
