Android 2.2 and the pornography OS
For those that are not aware, Android 2.2 could be visiting a handset near you sometime in May. The new features focus primarily on software-hardware improvements (software that makes the hardware run!). These are basically designed to give your Android device a performance boost. Now, Steve Jobs would have you believe that this is all so that you can watch pornography at an improved frame-rate, but more on that in a moment. First, let us consider the possible features of Android 2.2.
Included in the mix are the JIT Compiler for Android’s Dalvik VM which some reports suggest up to a 250% improvement in performance. Also, Android 2.2 is said to free additional RAM and provide OpenGL ES 2.0 enhancements. Of course, let us not forget Flash 10.1 support. Please consider that none of the above is official, although we’re pretty confident most, if not all, of the features above will be found in Android 2.2.
In case you have not heard, Mr. Apple Jobs recently reiterated that Android is focused around Pornography. TechCrunch have published an interesting piece which includes a letter to, and response from, Steve Jobs. In his response, Steve comes right out and says ‘Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone’ . This control of content is something which many Apple users find wrong. Nonetheless, these continued remarks that Android is an operating system that provides pornography to children is bordering on slander, in my opinion.
