If commuting via railways is your thing, then this Android app might interest you. Amtrak has just released its official app on the Google Play Store, and it promises users a “new way to take the train.”

Aptly named Amtrak, the app lets passengers plan their entire trip, and promises to be a one-stop-shop for all things rail-related. You can buy your tickets through the app, and you get an e-ticket, which you can display through your Android smartphone or tablet. The app can also be used to navigate to nearby stations and check schedules.

The app uses Google Maps, and even offers street view and turn-by-turn directions, so you won’t get lost on the way to the station.

If you’re a regular commuter, you can use the app to access your Amtrak Guest Rewards account. Feel like upgrading your seat selection or changing your trip schedule? The app also lets you do that.

The app conforms to Google’s latest design guidelines, which aims to standardize the Android app experience. The app itself is free, but you’ll have to pay for tickets!
