Amazon App for Android now available, features barcode scanner

amazon_logoAmazon has announced that a new Amazon App for Android shopping application is now available in the Android Market.  The new app will let Android users easily shop on Amazon.com and also features Amazon’s “Remembers” system that can identify items by photograph or barcode so that they can be shopped for on Amazon.com.  From the press release:

“Customers have been requesting an Amazon shopping application on their Android devices and we are thrilled to bring them the Amazon App for Android,” said Sam Hall, director of Amazon Mobile. “In addition to their favorite Amazon shopping features, Amazon App for Android users can use Amazon Remembers to easily keep track of the items they see in their daily lives and even instantly match photos and barcodes to products available at Amazon.com.”

Amazon App for Android also supports Amazon’s 1-Click ordering, Amazon Prime, and package tracing and order modification.  Users can also get personal recommendations and read reviews, access their wish lists, and access the Gold Box Deal of the Day.
