  • This rooting guide is only compatible with the HTC Amaze 4G. Using this guide on another device is not recommended.
  • You alone will be responsible for whatever happens to you or your device through your use of this guide.  Follow this step-by-step guide at your own risk.

Instructions

  1. Make sure you’ve successfully unlocked the bootloader of your HTC Amaze 4G and installed the HTC USB drivers.  (See Requirements.)
  2. Download Binary100100′s Recovery Installer for Noobs 2.0.  Get the ZIP file from here.
  3. Unpack the contents of the ZIP file into C:amaze-root on your computer.  Make sure you have the following files:
    1. C:amaze-rootadb
    2. C:amaze-rootadb.exe
    3. C:amaze-rootadblinux

  5. Open the C:amaze-root folder where you extracted the ZIP file to.
  6. Run “Flash.bat” as Administrator to install ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7 to your HTC Amaze 4G.  A command prompt window will open as soon as you start the program.  Follow instructions on the command prompt window if there is any.
  7. Download the rooting package for the HTC Amaze 4G from here.  The name of the file is Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip.  Do not unzip the package.
  8. Copy the rooting package to the root directory of the internal SD card of your HTC Amaze 4G.
  9. Open a command prompt and type the following commands (press Enter key after each line):
    • cd c:amaze-root
    • adb reboot recovery
  10. The second command above will reboot your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery.
  11. On your phone, use the Volume keys to highlight “Install zip from sdcard.”  Press the Power button.
  12. Navigate to “choose zip from sdcard,” then press the Power button.
  13. Browse for Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and select it with the Power button.
  14. Confirm that you want to flash the file.
  15. Wait a bit for the process to complete.
  16. Return to the main menu of recovery menu.
  17. Select “reboot system now” to restart your phone.

Hooray! You have rooted your HTC Amaze 4G and installed ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7 on it. Now you can make some tweaks or install custom ROMS on your mobile phone.

Make sure you don’t have USB sync/disk drive mode enabled

it wont work if your phone is connected to your computer

  • TheBakedBaker

I’m pretty sure this will work with a Mac or Linux computer as well. Instead of running Flash.bat, run Flash.sh. I get my Amaze in the next day or two, I’ll try it and update…

      TheBakedBaker or anyone else,
      I can’t get passed step #10…
      After I type in,
cd c:amaze-root and adb reboot recovery in the command prompt,

      it then saids

“adb server is out of date. killing….” in the Command Prompt.
My phone then fails to reboot into clockworkmod recovery and I instead get a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it.

      Any ideas?

      • johnathan george

oh and when u click unlock the bootloader click the name of the phone (htc amaze) and your carrier. i dunno if u already figured it out by now though lol

After executing “ADB Reboot Recovery” my phone resets and comes up with a red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle.” I can reboot from there by taking the battery out. Phone comes up as normal but I’m assuming the root did not take???
