Why type when you can Swype

We recently covered the 8pen input method. It only launched a few days ago and although it looks great, we didn’t have a chance to try it. Everyone on Android knows about Swype. Hell, everyone on a smartphone these days probably knows about Swype. However, there is a world beyond swype, and we thought we would share that world with you.

Thanks to lifehacker, we have five hopefuls to mention that are hoping to break into the lime light. All want a piece of Swype’s action. Graffiti, SlideIT, ThickButtons, SwiftKey and 8pen. There are benefits and downsides to all of these methods, be it a new learning curve or a shallow one, free or pay to own. Indeed, some methods require an SD card to work properly, which can be frustrating. To watch videos on all the input methods and to learn about how each one might be suited to you, head on over to our source. It’s well worth it.
