Photoshop Express for Android is rolling out a new update today, rebuilt from the ground up and fully compatible with Android 4.4 KitKat. This means that not only are there plenty of under-the-hood changes, but even the overall interface has been revamped as well.

According to Adobe’s official blog post, the main purpose of this update is to streamline the experience found in the app and make it easier to get the look you want using many new and improved filters. Additionally, the new update now includes support for Adobe Revel, an app that is designed to keep your family photos and videos organized and in one place.

Keep in mind that unlike Photoshop Touch, Express is completely free to download, and is available now directly through Google Play. For those that have already tried the newly updated Photoshop Express, what do you think? Like the changes or not?

Crashes at start up if you are using ART

Wow! This app was a few megabytes before and now it’s 22. Definitely a huge update.

Tried: crushes with ART. Now – what i’m gonna use?

[....and fully compatible with Android 4.4 KitKat.] Not.

ART is experimental. It is not suppose to be default runtime just yet. You cannot fault developers for not supporting it now when Google itself thinks it is not ready for primetime.

I am using ART as well, so I won’t bother with this. But I like the looks of the update.

Um, so what? It just slightly changes pictures, big deal.

Come back when they make photoshop free–and not 24 hour after the fact.

All works but ….. If i want to use camera as input it crashes. KitKat on Nexus7. Running Darvik btw

    From Google Play:

“If you are running your device in Google’s experimental ART runtime, Photoshop Express may or may not function as expected on your device. We are aware of this issue and working with Google to get this resolved soon.”
