When Aymar de Lencquesaing, head of Acer’s mobile phone division, said last month that Acer will be offering a “much more balanced” portfolio in 2010, most people understood that statement to mean that Acer would be releasing a few additional Android handsets, perhaps as many as 4 to 5 in 2010. We are happy to report that this original estimate was a gross miscalculation. Acer confirmed on Thursday that it has up to six Android handsets on the table for release in the first half of 2010. The handsets will be broken down into three price levels (high-, mid-, and entry level) and will include both consumer oriented and business focused handsets. Acer is still evaluating the second half of the year but if this trend continues, we could see more than ten Android handsets from Acer alone in 2010. Oh, happy days!
