The Philippines based Business Mirror is reporting that it was told by an anonymous Acer executive that Acer plans to release an Android powered smartphone known as the A1 in September of this year.

Our James Tromans saw a number of similarly named Acer smartphones (F1, L1, C1, etc) at a recent Acer event, but no details of anything called the A1, nor any firm word on the company’s Android plans, were announced at that time.

We really don’t know much about this source, the Business Mirror, so we’ll have to recommend that everybody take this one with a grain of salt.  But it sounds reasonable….
