16GB Nexus 7 drops to a “coming soon” style listing with Google Play

Google was forced to cancel the big Android event that was scheduled for this morning. And given that cancellation, it looks like the rumors and speculation will continue. Well, at least for the near future anyway. We have been seeing 32GB Nexus 7 tablet leaks continue, however while many were expecting the 8GB model to go away in favor of a 16GB and a 32GB model — Google Play has recently begun telling another story.

That being said, we should note that we are not entirely sure how the end of this story will play out. But what we have just discovered is that the 16GB Nexus 7 has joined the 8GB Nexus 7 in having a “coming soon” style listing. This is direct with the Google Play Store and as of now — both models are listed as coming soon with the only option being to trade an email for the promise of a notification when it comes available. Or if you ask us, if it comes available.

Simply put, this seems to throw a bit of confusion into the speculation that had been suggesting the 8GB model was going away in favor of a 16GB and 32GB model. In the meantime, we are going to be paying close attention to the Play store. Not to mention, waiting for Google to announce a new date and time for the missed event.

  • So, I’ve seen all of these articles about 32gb Nexus 7’s… Come on guys, it’s not like the unveiling of a cool new device, we’re talking a mear storage upgrade… Let’s not get too excited, hell, storage is almost obsolete…
