10.1-inch Sony Xperia Tablet Z leaked, release date not yet revealed

You know what would go very well with an Xperia Z smartphone? A Sony Xperia Tablet Z, of course, although using approximately the same name for two different products may be somewhat problematic.

The Xperia Z is undoubtedly one of the stars of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show edition – and the new Sony flagship device has received quite a few commendations from CES. So it makes plenty of sense for the company want to pair the high-end smartphone with an equally high-end Xperia Tablet Z, especially since it plans to focus mostly on high-end and mid-range Android devices in the following years.

The product is not official yet and there’s no way to confirm the rumor just yet, but we already have what seem to be the first leaks out in the wild detailing its specs and features. According to tweets posted by @Xperia_info, here’s what the Xperia Tablet Z  (model number SO-03E, dubbed “Pollux”) will have to offer:

  • 10.1-inch Full HD Display
  • 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 32GB storage
  • 8.1-megapixel camera
  • 2.2-megapixel front camera
  • Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
  • 6000mAh Battery
  • Wifi a/b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • NFC
  • LTE
  • Waterproof and Dustproof IP55/IP57
  • 6000mAh Battery
  • Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

The Xperia Tablet Z tablet is said to be similar to the Xperia Z smartphone when it comes to design, although no actual images are available at this time.

While release dates aren’t available either for the device, the Xperia Tablet Z is expected to hit stores in the second quarter of the year, heading first to Japan and Hong Kong before reaching European and other international markets.

Anyone looking to buy an Xperia Tablet Z?

  • 6000mAh battery. Out of 10 how does that compete with other tablets with 10 being the best and 0 being not competitive at all?

  • Tets

Well on the low end you have 3,000 mah batteries (a zero), on the high end you can have up to 11,000 mah (a 10 on your scale), so 7,000 is average, so lets just say it is slightly above average at best (5 out of 10).

Nothing about the screen? Would be awesome if the Z tablet comes with a 2560×1600 10.1″screen.

  • I think the Z combo will be the two gadgets that make me move away from the fruit company. The only thing keeping me loyal to them is iTunes, but I think I do like Android (I’ve tried the Xperia Acros S and Nexus 7), and if I can find a tablet and phone that are always in synch, it would be perfect. I just hope the tablet does offer 4G/LTE if released in the US. Can’t wait :-)
